Allen Morgan, Jr.

Allen Morgan, Jr. was born July 18, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was educated at St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, Delaware, Mr. Morgan was Captain of St. Andrew’s School’s 1961 Delaware State Championship Team. He received his B.A. Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Morgan has been a longtime supporter of Tennis Memphis, which promotes youth tennis programming. He was instrumental in Regions Financial sponsoring the ATP Tournament in Memphis for seven years. Morgan also served on the Tennis Hall of Fame Board for many years. In 1969, Morgan founded Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. and served as Chairman and CEO until 2003. The firm grew to over 300 offices in 19 states and was successfully acquired by Regions Financial Corporation in 2001. Morgan served as Vice Chairman of Regions Financial, and a member of the Regions Financial board of directors until his retirement in December 2007. In 1994, the Society of Entrepreneurs named Morgan Entrepreneur of the Year in Memphis. In 1995, Financial World magazine honored him as one of three outstanding CEO’s in the securities industry. In addition to his tennis service, Morgan served on the boards of many civic and cultural organizations. Among these are the Public Building Authority of Memphis and Shelby County, the State of Tennessee Building Finance Committee, the City of Memphis Mud Island Park Board, Methodist Hospitals, the Memphis Community Foundation, Trezevant Manor, Allen Morgan Health Center, St. Andrew’s School, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Foundation. He is past president of the Arts Appreciation Foundation, the Cotton Carnival, the Liberty Bowl, the Memphis Chamber of Commerce, the Memphis Downtown Leadership Council and past Chairman of Dixon Gallery & Gardens.
