Nashville, Tennessee native Jenny Settle started playing tennis in spring of 1976. As a member of the Silver Streaks, she won the 4.0 Sr. Local, State and Southern Sectionals and lost in the Nationals in Tempe, AZ in 1994, only to return for a National Championship for next two consecutive years, and one more in 1999. Settle also played on tennis teams that went to the 4.0 Adult Southern Sectionals, won the 8.5 TN state Combo, won 8.5 Nashville Adult and 8.5 Sr Mixed doubles, and won Tennessee 4.0 Super Senior three times. With tennis partner Patsy Gaw she earned a finalist spot in the state Women's 45 Doubles in 1994. In other tennis play, she won Club Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and was a Singles finalist at West Meade Swim and Tennis Club in Nashville. Settle served as the USTA-Tennessee Treasurer from 1992-2001 and the accountant for USTA-Tennessee from 1998-2012. She was a USTA-Southern Section Committee Member 2001-2005, serving on the Investment Committee and on the Adult/Sr Recreation Committee. Settle served as the Treasurer for the Westmeade Swim and Tennis Club for 8 years. Settle graduated from Peabody College/Vanderbilt and has worked in accounting and tax preparation for many years. One of her favorite joys of tennis has been teaching and watching her three daughters and now her granddaughters excel in in the game. Settle says that tennis keeps her physically active and mentally tough and has offered her lifelong friends.
