Parker was a native of Shaw, Mississippi and graduated from the Mississippi University for Women in 1948. She was Mississippi state girls champion in high school and played on the tennis team at MUW. Her tennis playing career spanned six decades and she returned to the competition in her forties. She played in USTA adult and senior competition from age 40 through 75. She won a gold medal in the Southern California Senior Olympics in 1975 and was nationally ranked in the Womens 80+ age division as recently as 2008. Parker represented the Southern Section at the Intersectionals (National Senior Team Championships four times and represented Tennessee at the Senior Cup for 10 years. Parker was a physical education teacher who retired to Florence, Alabama. Parker died on April 7, 2013.
