Sue McCulloch Webb resides in Lookout Mountain. A native of Scotland, Webb was a highly ranked junior player (#6 in Girls 18s and #16 in Womens Open in Great Britain) when she was recruited to play for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga by Coach Tommy Bartlett. She played on the team which won two Southern Conference Championships and three Division II national championships (UTC was D-II at that time) and was named All-American in 1983, 1984, and 1985. She and her partner Christine Picher won the NCAA Division II Doubles title in 1984 and she was a semi-finalist in NCAA Division II singles in 1984 and 1985. She continued to play amateur competitive tennis and teach adults and juniors after she graduated from college. Her playing record includes 6 Senior British National ITF doubles titles, winning a Gold Ball (with Fran Chandler) and a Bronze Ball in singles at the USTA National 50’s Clay Courts, two Senior British National Indoor Singles Championships, and winning numerous doubles and mixed doubles tournaments. She represented Tennessee in the Southern Senior Cup for many years and has represented USTA Southern at numerous USTA Inter-Sectional championships in different age divisions. Sue represents Great Britain in the Senior ITF World Team Championships, winning two Bronze medals in team play and two in the Individual World Championships in the 50’s (with Fran Chandler) and 55 doubles, and still competes at very high levels of senior ITF competition. She represented Scotland in Senior International play and played ITF events in Europe and Africa before coming to Chattanooga. Her coaching career includes Covenant College, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Girls Preparatory School, and Chattanooga Christian School where CCS won ten state championships in TSSAA Class A-AA from 2002-2013. While coaching at Chattanooga Christian School, Sue was awarded the Girls ‘Best of Preps’ Coach of the Year three times, and the Boys State Coach of the Year in 2004. Webb is the Tennis Director at The Lookout Mountain Club in Lookout Mountain, Georgia near Chattanooga. She is active with the Chattanooga Tennis Association, the Chattanooga Tennis Foundation and the UTC Alumni Association.
